“Single voluntary self-regulatory bodies should be established for the Complementary and Alternative Medicine professions most widely practised in the United Kingdom and these bodies should have a single independent body funded by registration fees and a Governing Council made up of a balance between professional and lay members”. Biographical Details:

John D. Lawrence, BSc (Hons), DHP, Dip. CAH, Dip. (Erk) Hyp. Master NLP and Meridian Therapy Practitioner is a National Guild of Hypnotists Board Certified Trainer and Hypnotherapist. He has worked with clients from all over the U.K. and abroad for specific issues. He is a member of the National Hypnopsychotherapy Council and the National Council for Hypnotherapy. He was awarded "The Researcher of the Year Award, 2002" for his work on phantom limb pain and amputees by the latter organisation and holds senior clinician status with that body. He is a former Research Director within the NCH. He is an Accredited Hypnotherapy Supervisor within the NCH. He is a volunteer clinical hypnotherapist with the National Phobics Society. He is on the Register of Approved Gastrointestinal Psychotherapists and Hypnotherapists helping to relieve ailments of the digestive system (IBS) and (IBD) etc. Formely he was one of only two Scottish expert advisors to serve on the Prince's Foundation for Integrated Health, looking at the integration of complementary therapies in to the NHS. He is also a former director and chair of Holistic Health Care Limited,  a Scottish charity working to promote education, research and the relief of sickness in a Holistic manner. Currently he practices at Linlithgow near Edinburgh.

Peter Matthews,  a Fellow and Life Member of The Society of Stress Managers, possesses academic and professional qualifications at degree, post-graduate and higher degree level in education, employment law, industrial relations, stress management and hypnotherapy. His particular interest is the legal implications of stress at work. His paper on this topic is published on the internet at www.manageyourstress.co.uk. He was formerly a Stress Manager with Harley Street Stress Management Specialists Limited, a company based in Harley Street, London, nationally and internationally recognised as a centre of excellence for both medicine and complementary medicine. He is currently the Secretary of The Society of Stress Managers as well as the Company Secretary of UKCHO.

Jean Murton,   Jean is the director of the Belmont Centre for Hypnotherapy UK. She is the trainer for the British Association of Therapeutical Hypnotists (established 1951).
A committee member of BAThH a founder member of UKCHO. Jean is a member and accredited with several Hypnotherapy organisations and has been a practicing hypnotherapist since 1986  A Master Practitioner of Neuro- Linguistic Programming She has been a director of UKCHO since November 2000.

She has travelled internationally and been on TV and radio many times. She offers classes in many subjects in the study of the relationship between the power of the human mind and the power of the Universal Energies. She has run classes successfully on relaxation, stress and has dealt successfully with psychosomatic issues, on a one to one basis.

Her main interest is in clinical hypnotherapy and she is co-author of the recently published; Hypnotherapy in Healthcare.

David Reeves, is the President of the (British) National Register of Advanced Hypnotherapists www.nrah.co.uk.

He has been in private practice as a Psychoanalyst, Hypnotherapist since 1991, and as a Stress Management Consultant since 1994. He is the head of a thriving Harley Street practice and has another practice in Swindon, Wiltshire.  He also spends time training and working in the USA.

Before moving into the field of Hypnotherapy and Stress, his background was in the commercial sector reaching the level of Managing Director.

David has undergone extensive training in both the UK and the USA in numerous aspects of Psychology, Psycho-sexual problems, Hypnosis and (Battlefield) Stress Management.

He has taken part in BBC and  local Wiltshire radio programs and is a registered tutor with two charities, SCOPE and Learning for Life, lecturing in various aspects of Psychology, Hypnosis and Stress.

He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine, a Fellow of the Association for Professional Hypnosis and Psychotherapy, a life long member of the International Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association, and belongs to several other leading professional associations in both the UK & USA. He is also a freeman of the city of London.

Martin Armstrong-Prior, Martin has been involved in counselling and therapy at various levels since 1974. He has practiced hypnotherapy since 1992, when he completed his training and joined the National Council for Psychotherapy and the Hypnotherapy Register. When the Hypnotherapy Register broke away from the NCP Martin became prominent in the development of the NCH into a ‘Members Co-operative’ and became the first Chair of the Cooperative. About the same time he became the first Secretary of UKCHO when it was formed, and helped to develop the structure of this organisation as a Co-operative.. He retired from the Police Service in 2000, after 30years of service, and has been an active supporter of the development of standards in the hypnotherapy profession."

Helen Fogg has been a Committee Member of the Hypnotherapy Association (HA) for 2 years, with the extra role of Local Contact Coordinator. She has been in private practice as a hypnotherapist since 1994, specializing in anxiety disorders and panic attacks, IBS, stress, fears and phobias, as well as confidence, performance issues, smoking and weight control. In addition, she is a qualified kinesiologist and shamanic practitioner. Her practice is based in North Hampshire, where she is the proprietor of her own holistic centre, combining a complementary health clinic with a venue offering classes, workshops and training. Her background is in further education where she taught as a Mathematics lecturer for 18 years. She is very keen to see hypnotherapy develop as a respected profession, gaining the trust from the general public and the medical profession, and is looking for increased access to CPD opportunities and supervision for all registered hypnotherapists.

James Hammond, James Hammond is Chairman of the National Association of Counsellors, Hypnotherapists and Psyhcotherapists (NACHP), a UK-registered charity which is currently looking to create a National UK Helpline for the general public to understand the options available for the treatment of mental health. James is a Fellow of the NACHP and has a private consultancy practice in Cambridge. He specialises in the treatment of depression and has published a number of articles around the world on the subject, and has also appeared in television and radio programmes dealing with depression. His background is in marketing, selling and advertising, having worked for some of the biggest blue-chip corporations in the UK. He has conducted numerous seminars for therapists on how to market and promote a successful therapy practice.

Leslie Hubbard, Leslie Hubbard is an Executive Committee member of the United Kingdom Guild of Hypnotist Examiners (UKGHE). He was a lecturer in counselling for over ten years before concentrating on working as a practitioner and trainer in private practice. He has a special interest in the strategic approach of Milton Erickson and the work of Virginia Satir.

Stephanie Kirke,  MSc.Psy, DipHP, HPD, AccHypSup, Senior Clinician MNCH(Acc)MNGH Stephanie was Chair of UKCHO from October 2004 until July 2006, when she stepped down from the position. Stephanie still remains as a member of the executive and gives her support to the VSR work ahead. She is a practising hypnotherapists since qualifying in 1994. With an academic background in Psychology at degree and higher degree level, Stephanie also has 12 years teaching experience both in FE and sixth form school settings. Stephanie is an accredited member and senior clinician of the NCH, Director of Supervision since 2003 and was voted Chair of NCH in January 2005.

Stephanie is interested in the progress of the UK hypnotherapy profession as it strives toward voluntary self-regulation. UKCHO is the only organisation in the UK which represents a number of registering and/or accrediting organisations whose aim is to maintain professional standards and where possible, raise those standards still further.

Rebecca Silvester: Rebecca is Operations Director and Trainer for The Quest Institute, a Cognitive Hypnotherapy Training School. She qualified as a Hypnotherapist in 1999, and is also a Master Practitioner of NLP. She has twelve years experience as a Trainer and has extensive experience of training design and delivery in both the public and private sector. She is an ex-police officer, who specialised in Child Protection, and her last posting was as an Instructor at Hendon Police College. Now, in addition to her duties with The Quest Institute, she also runs a hypnotherapy practice near Cambridge.

Terence Watts, Terence has been in professional practice since 1989 and is the Chairman of the Association for Professional Hypnosis and Psychotherapy, which he founded in 1999. He holds memberships in several professional organisations, including:

Fellow and Senior Clinician of the National Council for Hypnotherapy
Fellow of The National Register of Advanced Hypnotherapists,
Member of The International Stress Management Association
Member of The Society of Authors.

He also holds the MCGI (Member of the City & Guilds Institute) and is the author of:

He has written several training courses and is an international presenter and trainer, and is Principal of the Essex Institute of Clinical Hypnosis in Southend-on-Sea, Essex. Trained originally as a hypnoanalyst, he uses an eclectic mix of therapies in his work and is a specialist in psychosexual disorders. In 2006, he originated a brief diploma course for professional therapists in the management and alleviation of psychosexual dysfunction.
